Adobe Acrobat 9 Not Printing

I'm using acrobat 9 standard version 9.4.2 with windows xp sp 3. i used to be able to print with no issues, but suddenly i can no longer print by clicking the print button on the toolbar or by selecting file menu > print.. Not only view, but print, sign, and annotate pdfs with the free adobe acrobat reader dc. only with adobe acrobat reader you can view, sign, comment on, and share pdfs for free. and when you want to do more, subscribe to acrobat pro dc. then you can edit, export, and send pdfs for signatures. I have two end users who both are using adobe acrobat 9 and whenever they attempt to print to an hp printer using the hp universal driver adobe doesn't even attempt to try and send the print job just to the hp printers..
